TCITM preview

There is a lot going on at 3 Pixel Chicks this week. We are crazy busy! (Picture feathers flying and lots of squawking)

First off, our August selection of The Chick’s In the Mail: Digital Card Templates are in the Market. In addition to the 6 multi-purpose card templates, we included 4 exclusive flair pieces, a digital chalkboard, flower paper pieces and a bonus font. You won’t want to miss this set.

In case you haven’t seen it yet, our HUGE back to school kit, Chick Your Grade, is also now available in 2 parts; papers and embellishments. We went a teensy-weensy bit overboard on this one because honestly, we had a blast making it! Our lovely and talented MotherHen has used it to create some incredible hybrid projects, including lunch box notes and a thoughtful teacher gift.

We also have a new photo challenge beginning on Monday. We’re calling it a Weekly Photo Challenge, which isn’t the most creative name for an exercise to stretch creativity, but it gets the point across.

The rules are simple:

Each week, one of the chicks will post a topic that you will interpret and photograph as creatively as possible.

Seeing how other people approach this challenge will be a great learning experience as well, so it would be great to have everyone posting and commenting regularly in the Coop.

I will be watching the forum thread and the coop gallery closely, so if you have any questions, I’ll be happy to assist. I will also be bestowing RAKs as the mood strikes me.

(For those who don’t know, RAK stands for Random Acts of Kindness and refers to random freebies given away to active participants.)

I am really excited about this challenge. Once we start getting some consistent activity, we’ll add other fun photo challenges, including a scavenger hunt.

Watch this thread in the Hen House for the weekly topic posting.

Congratulations to Lyoshka who won a $25 gift certificate to our store in the July contest. We were so impressed with the cards entered in the July contest, it was a difficult decision.

We have uploaded a new challenge piece for August that coordinates with our Chick Your Grade paper pack and embellishment set.  This set includes a layered card template, a doodled notebook paper sheet, cork tiles and brads, and doodle cut-outs.  We can’t wait to see your creative use of the challenge pieces.  Use one or more piece of the challenge set and upload your creation to the Coop.  Greeting cards, scrapbook pages and creative projects are welcome and encouraged.

Translating Chick-ese

Translating Chick-ese
Here is a handy reference guide for all the roosters out there.
9 terms defined and demystified

(1) Fine: This is the word chicks use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

(2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

(3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.

(4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don’t Do It!

(5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)

(6) That’s Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a chick can make to a man. That’s okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

(7) Thanks: A chick is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you’re welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says Thanks a lot’ - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say ‘you’re welcome’ … that will bring on a ‘whatever’).

(8) Whatever: Is a chick’s way of saying LEAVE ME ALONE!

(9) Don’t worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a chick has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking ‘What’s wrong?’ For the chick’s response refer to # 3.

Just Hatched! No Comments »

Hi everyone,

Chickita here with a couple of announcements.

First off, we have a few amazing new products in the market that you will want to check out. There are several more on the way, as well, so keep checking back with us in the next few weeks.

We are also planning a very exciting and unique event for mid-July that will have everyone ‘clucking’. We are furiously working on getting all of details ironed out, products and freebies made and NEW video tutorials produced in time. We will keep you posted as we get closer to the event. For now, I’ll say that it will be an event that we host every month and it will be a huge help to you.

How’s that for vague? LOL!

Have a wonderful day!

To Market, To Market

Freebies, down on the farm, not to be believed No Comments »

Jake in doggie heavenWe made our first venture of the summer to our town’s farmer’s market this morning. Aside from the gorgeous array of fruits and vegetables, I found an incredible homemade pear jam. The best part is they made it without all of the excess sugar, so it’s essentially spreadable fruit; a very tasty treat.

I also saw an ingenious idea. A company called Goodies Unlimited, which makes soaps and lotions, has a lotion stick. Basically, they make lotion without all of the water and package it in a deodorant container. It’s airplane-friendly, because it’s a solid. Pretty cool concept, huh?

Their lotion sticks with tea tree oil also act as insect repellents. My daughter has very ’sweet’ blood and the mosquitoes LOVE her. I’m always on the lookout for organic solutions, so we’re going to give this a shot later today.

Now, for the moment you’ve all been waiting for…

First Place in the Stella Awards!!!!

A woman from Oklahoma City purchased a large Winnebago motor home. On her first trip in the RV, she entered the highway, set her cruise control to 70mph and went to the back to make a sandwich.

Surprisingly, the woman wasn’t killed when the vehicle crashed and overturned. Not surprisingly, she sued Winnebago for not putting proper warnings in their owner’s manuals. Apparently she wasn’t aware that cruise control is not synonymous with auto pilot.

This next part really embarrasses me, as I currently live in this state, but here we go. The jury awarded her a whopping $1.75 million AND a new motor home. Because we all want this lady behind the wheel of another behemoth instrument of death. Yes, Winnebago changed their manuals for future reference.

Enjoy your weekend!
